Not all gifts are the same. Some gifts are small but thoughtful, others come like a passing breeze, while some gifts are there to change your life. Indeed The Gift is one of those latter gifts.

As lucky as I am, I picked The Gift by Louise Jensen to read. This is another fascinating psychological thriller that I had enjoyed so much. Thanks to my GR friends whose reviews had encouraged me to pick this book.

The Gift tackles the issue of cellular memory. This has been a debatable scientific issue for quite some time. After reading this book, I am intrigued to read more about it. It’s a very fascinating and mysterious issue to me really.

In the Gift, our heroine Jenna is given another chance to live. With a serious heart condition, she’s close to her end. However, receiving a donor heart changes her life and gives her another hope to live. This doesn’t come without conditions. For as serious as her condition is, she has to be careful with her health. May be the most serious precaution is her inability to give birth any more. But this isn’t all. The most serious issues are the ones that no one had never told her about, merely because no one had expected them.

Jenna has quite a lot of nightmares. She sees inexplicable envisions and panic attacks that she can’t understand or relate to. Moreover, she feels connected to her deceased donor, Callie. Feeling the urge to know more about her donor, and against the advice of her doctor, she goes to meet Callie’s family. Jenna needs answers. And once she steps into Callie’s house, she feels there is a lot unsaid and a lot to know.

Well, not only Jenna. I was intrigued too. And throughout this book, I was taken on a breath taking journey to get to the bottom of it. With surprising twists and turns on every corner, I couldn’t put this book down. It was quite a ride that I had enjoyed so much.

The Gift was my first read for Louise Jensen. Her debut novel, The Sister, had already been on my list for quite some time but for some reason or the other I didn’t have the chance to read it. Now after reading The Gift I will sure read The Sister, for Louise is a talented writer.

If you are looking for a good psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, The Gift is for you.
